Church Council and Teams
Annual Meeting FE 12
Our AGM will take place Sun FE 12 following the morning worship. Please put this important date on your calendar. Lunch will be provided.
The Nominating Committee would like to thank all the people who have agreed to serve the Silver Spire community in 2012. There is still a need for people and we are hoping that you will give some thought to sharing your gifts. For example, the Council and Congregation both need Secretaries. Another opportunity is for Silver Spire to have representatives at Niagara Presbytery. Similarly, there is a warm welcome waiting on the following teams for people who would like to join: Property, Finance, Christian Nurture, Membership, Communications, Worship, Outreach and Pastoral Care. Please take a moment to consider how God is calling you to serve. Please let John Empringham, Tammie Cook or Shirley Scott know so that we can add you to the chart for 2012.
Joint Search Committee
Silver Spire is in the process of searching for new ministry, pastoral care and Christian development staff. There are two full-time equivalent positions, which can be shared in a creative team approach, possibly by more than two people. For full details download the Joint Needs Assessment Report here. Church Council
At the 2011 Annual General Meeting, a different format for council set up was accepted for use in the coming year. The council committees are now called Teams and have been grouped together with other like Teams in Clusters. One Team Chair or member of each Cluster, plus a representative from each of the Board of Trustees, Ministry & Personnel, United Church Women and Presbytery, along with our secretary, Brenda Senyk, Co-Chairs, Tammie Cook and John Empringham, our past chair, Shirley Scott, and our ministers make up the Church Council. The hope is that this will allow for quicker implementation of new ideas, and minimize duplication by teams.
